Kids say the darndest things...

I watched Daddy Day Care with my children last night. During one scene with Eddie Murphy's character and his son, my three year old suddenly blurted, "Daddy, he's black!"

Was this just an innocent observation from a toddler becoming  aware that some people look different than others? I tried explaining why, but I don't think she grasped the concept. Switching the topic from people coloring themselves with markers, I pointed out the boy drawing a picture of the daddy and son playing . She moaned in disappointment.

"What's the matter, sweetie?"
"I don't have a black daddy."
